Potentia Namibia Health Services, in
collaboration with the Centre for Disease Control (CDC) and the
Ministry of Health and Social Services ( MHSS ), will provide Antiretroviral
Therapy ( ART ) to state patients at clinics based in hospitals throughout
Namibia. The dispensing of ART services will be conducted according to MHSS
guidelines in a concentrated and high-quality environment, which is essential
both for the safe provision of ART and optimizes treatment adherence. We seek to
recruit suitably qualified staff to fill critical positions in various rural
towns in Namibia.
MEDICAL DOCTORS
KEY AREAS OF FOCUS:
- Provides HIV clinical care
and ART to eligible patients in the IDCC, as well as TB, medical, pediatric, and
OB/GYN wards according to MHSS guidelines.
- Maintains medical records
and files in a professional and accurate manner.
- Requests appropriate
laboratory and clinical investigations, interprets results, and provides
appropriate medical care.
- Refers patients in an
appropriate manner to clinical specialists, counselors, social workers, or
others in the health system or community.
- Provides patient education
on HIV/AIDS, including nutrition, prevention and prompt treatment of
opportunistic diseases, adherence to ART and prevention of mother-to-child
transmission of HIV.
- At each follow-up visit,
evaluates patients for opportunistic diseases, drug side effects and adherence
if on ART, as well as eligibility for initiating ART when it has not yet been
started.
MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- A relevant qualification in
medicine from a recognized medical university or college.
- Licensed to practice medicine.
- At least 2 years experience
with the clinical case management of HIV/AIDS, preferably in Africa, or you have
received clinical training through the Department of Medicine, Paediatrics,
Obstetrics / Gynecology, post graduate experience in community health, emergency
medicine, primary health care, tropical medicine, and/or anaesthesia.
- Ability to speak, maintain
medical records and write professional reports in English.
- Strong clinical and
interpersonal skills and ability to work with people and patients from diverse
backgrounds.
- Certificate of good standing from the Medical
Board.
